Why Flytiliser works well on lawns

Most lawn fertilisers are high-nitrogen synthetic products designed to produce a rapid surge of green growth. The problem is that this fast growth requires constant repeat applications and does nothing to improve the underlying soil biology that a healthy lawn depends on.

Flytiliser works differently. Its NPK 3-1-2 profile is moderate on nitrogen — enough to support healthy grass growth without the surge that encourages excessive clipping and soft, disease-prone grass. The chitin content stimulates soil biology beneath the lawn, encouraging the beneficial fungi and bacteria that make nutrients more plant-available and support a more resilient grass sward over time.

Crucially, Flytiliser will not burn your lawn even if over-applied. With synthetic fertilisers, excess application in dry conditions leads to nitrogen burn — yellow or brown patches. Flytiliser’s slow-release profile eliminates this risk entirely.

How to apply Flytiliser to your lawn

Situation Rate Timing
General maintenance30–50g / m²Every 6–8 weeks, March–Oct
Recovering thin patches60–80g / m²Spring and early autumn
Autumn conditioning50g / m²September–October
After scarification80g / m²Immediately after, water in

How to apply: Scatter Flytiliser granules evenly across the lawn by hand or using a small broadcast spreader (a handheld seed spreader works well for most garden lawns). Water thoroughly after application — moisture activates the frass and begins nutrient release. Mow before applying for best results.

When to apply: Any time the grass is actively growing — March through October in most UK gardens. The best single application is in spring (March–April) when the grass is coming out of dormancy and can immediately use the nutrients. An autumn application (September–October) before the first frosts builds soil biology reserves for the following year.
